National Volunteer Week
National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to recognize and thank volunteers who lend their time, talent, voice, and support to the causes they care about in their community. Their stories can serve to inspire others to find ways to take action that creates change. During National Volunteer Week, EngageAR promotes and celebrates the impact of volunteer service and the power of changemakers to come together to tackle tough challenges and build stronger, more vibrant communities.
Engage Arkansas works with national service programs, organizations, individuals, and our Engaged Cities Network to support service day projects during National Volunteer Week. In 2023, we focused on one of the April Civic Challenge impact areas of environmental beautification by supporting Keep Arkansas Beautiful's Great American Cleanup.
Nationwide, Keep America Beautiful Month is celebrated each April. As the nation’s leading community improvement nonprofit organization, it empowers individuals to take greater responsibility for their community environment with the goal of building an America where everyone lives in a beautiful community. Statewide, Keep Arkansas Beautiful, serves to inspire individuals to improve their communities by educating, preventing litter, promoting recycling, and keeping Arkansas beautiful.
National Volunteer Week is celebrated annually during the third week of April, however, The Great American Cleanup runs from March 1 through May 31. Its annual Great Arkansas Cleanup runs from September 1 to October 31. You can view the statewide KAB Calendar of Events for more.
Keep Arkansas Beautiful also has some great interactive, educational resources for classrooms if this is a topic you'd like to share with your students.
Learn more about National Volunteer Week. In 2022, EngageAR invested $5,990.00 in volunteer projects across the state for National Volunteer Week. To stay in the know about upcoming projects, sign up for our Days of Service newsletter.
